Seeing in the Darkness

Seeing in the Darkness

Weekly Update – October 29th, 2020

Dear Church Family,

Instead of returning to our series through The Sermon on the Mount, I want us to take a week and look at a passage from the book of Job that deals with suffering. One of the aspects of being a pastor is that there are parts of your personal life that are lived out publically. This includes joys and celebrations, but it also includes times of suffering. Less than two weeks ago my family suffered one of the greatest trials we had ever been through. It has been and still is a process that we are working through as we strive to remain steadfast in hope, trusting in the Lord. We are not the only ones who have ever walked through trials though. It seems as though over the past several months, several of our families have walked through tremendous difficulties where they have had to lean into the Lord even more than they may have in the past. Therefore this week, I want us to walk through together what it looks like to see the Lord in the midst of the darkness.

This week we be in Job 13:15a as we consider “Seeing in the Darkness.” I hope that you will join us in person or via livestream.

Serving Him with You,

Announcements:

Budget Meeting: On Tuesday, November 10th at 7:00pm there will be a budget meeting that is open to all who would like to attend. The purpose of this meeting is to review the proposed 2021 budget before it is formally presented to the church. We will meet in the fellowship hall.

Church Directory: In December we will begin the process of putting together a new church directory. This directory will come with a few more add-ons than our last one, one of which includes an online component. Dates for pictures will be on December 7th and 8th for those who feel comfortable getting out. For others who are not able to have their pictures taken on this date, another date will be added in the spring. More information on this to come in the upcoming weeks.

Trunk or Treat: This year, on October 31st from 6-8pm, we will host a trunk or treat outside in our front parking lot. We will release the health guidelines for this event in the upcoming week, but for now, I want to encourage you to sign up to help. We need people who are willing to hand out candy from the back of their cars, others who can help with set up and/or break down, and some who can simply be present to help with anything else that might be needed for the night. Invite your family, friends and neighbors to join us on this night.

Health Guidelines: With no changes from the Health Department, we will continue in Phase 2.5 here in Jackson County. That means masks are still required. You can find the official guideline on mask wearing from the health department HERE. You can also find a video that outlines what Phase 2.5 looks like for our church HERE.
