Weekly Update – July 30th, 2020
Dear Church Family,
There is a balance in the midst of all of this pandemic that we are going through. It is something that I have been trying to wrestle with over the last several weeks. On the one hand, yes, there is a legitimate virus that has the potential to make you sick. But on the other hand, spiritually, there is great danger in isolation and shutting down life too. Somehow there has got to be a balance between staying physically protected while not spiritually sinking. I think that point will look different for each person. Nevertheless there are ways to commit to physical safety and spiritual growth at the same time. Yes, reading your Bible and prayer are essential. Individual spiritual disciplines are a must right now. At the same time, life away from the body of the local church can be dangerous. You can seek the Lord personally, but still be spiritually declining if you separate yourself too much from the local church. Again, it is a delicate balance. With that said, I want to caution you during this pandemic. If you are able to come, then you should be here. You need to be singing, praying, hearing the preached word, etc., with the body of Christ. But if you can’t be here, you need to continue to watch livestream on Sunday morning, make phone calls to others, and connect in any way possible with the church. These are trying times. These are times when we are really going to have to lean into the Lord a bit more. But at the same time, these are times when we need each other most too. Therefore don’t let up. Continue to press forward and make every effort to “encourage one another and build one another up” (1 Thess. 5:11).
This week we will finish our series in Malachi by looking at Malachi 4:1-6 with “The Final Word.” I hope that you will join us in person or by livestream.

Backyard Bible Clubs: Our Backyard Bible Club will be held from Wednesday, August 5th – Friday, August 7th. We will have 3 different age groups rotating through a Bible story, game and crafts. We will plan to meet outside from 6:30 – 8:00pm. If you have children to register, you can do so HERE. If you have any questions or if you would like to be involved, feel free to email Alaina Bonin at alaina.bonin@gmail.com
Food Pantry: With the current situation we have not promoted the food pantry in the past few months. That doesn’t mean that there isn’t a need though. We have moved the food basket out to the foyer of the sanctuary if you would like to consider giving to our food pantry. You can find a list of items that we need HERE.
Secret Church: For the last few years we have either gathered at the church or in homes to watch Secret Church. Secret Church is described as “a unique, one-night event that is simulcast to over 50,000 participants around the world. Encouraged by our persecuted brothers and sisters’ example, we meet for over 6 hours for intense study of God’s Word and passionate prayer for the persecuted.” This year’s theme was “God, Government and the Gospel.” Secret Church was offered to you this year by password only, since we could not gather to watch it. But now, it is all available online for free. I would encourage you to check out this teaching resource HERE.
Health Guidelines: With no changes from the Health Department, we will continue in Phase 2.5 here in Jackson County. That means masks are still required. You can find the official guideline on mask wearing from the health department HERE. You can also find a video that outlines what Phase 2.5 looks like for our church HERE.
