Proclaim the Light of Christ

Proclaim the Light of Christ

Weekly Update – February 26th, 2021

For the last year now, we have heard updates and warnings almost continuously about the danger of Covid 19. For a period of time, these updates were coming to us from the President and other health officials about what we needed to do to protect ourselves and how significant of a threat this virus is to us. As we approach the year anniversary now, we find that this warning is still the same, even as we have become a bit clearer about the situation.

With that in mind, there is another situation that we must not forget that is even more serious. That situation is the spiritual state of those around us. Jesus said in Matthew 10:28, “Do not fear those who kill the body, but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell.” Specifically Jesus is talking about persecution and the fear of man in this verse, but in many ways it still applies to us today. Yes, there is rightful fear over this virus that can take a physical toll on our bodies, but at the same time let us not forget that there is a greater danger looming concerning the souls of our family, friends and neighbors.

This Sunday, I want to challenge you, in the midst of the physical danger around us, to not forget our calling as Christians to proclaim to warn others about the spiritual danger for their soul. We are called to make known the name of Christ and to keep that as our priority, especially in the midst of the uncertain times that we are in. I want to invite you to join me this Sunday as we consider 2 Corinthians 3:12-4:6 and the call that we have to “Proclaim the Light of Christ.”

Again, this week we will be in 2 Corinthians 3-4. I hope that you will join us in person or via livestream.
