Weekly Update – August 20th, 2020
Dear Church Family,
Typically during this time of the year we are gearing up for all of our fall activities. Students return to school, vacations come to an end and many of us return to a busy schedule. Of course, that will all look different this year. Even so, though we might not be returning completely to normal, we here at First Baptist Church will still be active in ministry in the upcoming weeks. We will begin a new cycle of Sunday School in September, which will likely look similar to what we have been doing over the summer. Our nursery will be opening back up, for the worship service only, on September 13th. Awana will be kicking off on October 4th. These are just a few things to come. More will be announced as we are able to plan for them. Also, be expecting a sort of survey that asks what areas, if any, you are willing serve in. Though there might be a risk with Covid-19, we believe that what we do as a church is essential for our own souls and for the souls of of our community. Therefore we will strive with all of our might to declare and demonstrate the power of God at work through Jesus Christ.
This week we will take a look at “Fighting for Faith” from Hebrews 10:19-25. I hope that you will join us in person or by livestream.
Serving Him with You,

Announcements:
Food Pantry: With the current situation we have not promoted the food pantry in the past few months. That doesn’t mean that there isn’t a need though. We have moved the food basket out to the foyer of the sanctuary if you would like to consider giving to our food pantry. You can find a list of items that we need HERE.
Members’ Meeting: On Wednesday, August 19th our church voted to accept the offer from MBL Development for $380,000 to purchase the 4 acres north of the church building. If you missed last night’s meeting, I have attached the plan from MBL for the development of that piece of property HERE.
Health Guidelines: With no changes from the Health Department, we will continue in Phase 2.5 here in Jackson County. That means masks are still required. You can find the official guideline on mask wearing from the health department HERE. You can also find a video that outlines what Phase 2.5 looks like for our church HERE.
