Strive for Faithfulness

Strive for Faithfulness

Dear Church Family,

Last week I shared with you a lot of what I have been struggling with from Hebrews 10:19-25. In this passage, the author of Hebrews calls the church to continue to gather together, even in the face of fear. Well, right now there is a lot of fear surrounding this pandemic. Some fear is legitimate for those in vulnerable health categories, whereas for others, this fear may need to take a backseat to the spiritual danger that is present when we don’t gather with our brothers and sisters in Christ. It is helpful to remember that there is risk in every decision we make, so there will not be any option that presents us with 100% safety physically or spiritually. At the same time there is also a balance that we need to bring to how we think through the circumstances that surround us. Therefore, while there is a push to return to church and to some sort of normalcy, I do understand the hesitancy of some to come back. Nevertheless I want to press some of you. If you are able, I want to call you to continued consistency as we approach the fall season. I want us together to strive for faithfulness in our Sunday morning service and in all of the ministries that we will seek to start up and bring back in the upcoming months. My prayer is that we would wisely consider our situation and seek the Lord in what is right with hearts that continually long to be back with the church.

This week we will begin a new series in the Sermon on the Mount from Matthew 5-7. On Sunday we will take a look at “The Beatitudes: Loving God” from Matthew 5:1-12. I hope that you will join us in person or by livestream.

Announcements:

Food Pantry: With the current situation we have not promoted the food pantry in the past few months. That doesn’t mean that there isn’t a need though. We have moved the food basket out to the foyer of the sanctuary if you would like to consider giving to our food pantry. You can find a list of items that we need HERE.

Nursery: On September 13th, we will open our nursery back up. The plan is to have two rooms that would hold children ages 0-3. We plan to fully comply with all regulations from the CDC and Jackson County as we seek to safely and wisely care for our children. The nursery will only be for our worship service to start.

Members’ Meeting: On Wednesday, August 19th our church voted to accept the offer from MBL Development for $380,000 to purchase the 4 acres north of the church building. If you missed last week’s meeting, I have attached the plan from MBL for the development of that piece of property HERE.

Health Guidelines: With no changes from the Health Department, we will continue in Phase 2.5 here in Jackson County. That means masks are still required. You can find the official guideline on mask wearing from the health department HERE. You can also find a video that outlines what Phase 2.5 looks like for our church HERE.

Awana

On October 4th, Awana will kick off for the year. From 5:45 – 7:30pm, children ages 3 to 6th grade are welcome to come and hear the truth about Jesus, memorize Scripture, and play games every Sunday evening. There will be no Bible Study during this time nor will there be a nursery.

Bible Study

We are currently in a study through the book of Philippians. We will meet in the Faith Center on Sundays at 9:15am. You can find the Bible Study schedule HERE. You can find a video explaining what to expect in Sunday School HERE.
