The Response to Jesus

The Response to Jesus

Weekly Update – March 18th, 2021

This week we will look at Mark 7-10 and consider “The Response to Jesus.” Leading up to chapter 7, Jesus has been clear on His mission and in His ministry. His mission is to proclaim the Kingdom of God by calling all to repent of their sins and believe in the good news of the life, death and resurrection of Jesus. His ministry was filled with teaching and power to confirm this proclamation as His teaching further explained what His kingdom was like and His miracles displayed the power by which He comes to reign.

Now, in Mark 7-10, the response to His mission and ministry will come out. Some will believe and display the true nature of faith. Others will hold to their own works and want to kill Jesus. As Mark does throughout his gospel, we will see this week, how everything he has written so far is ultimately leading us to the climax of the story. That climax is the death and resurrection of Jesus.

As I did last week, I want to again encourage you to continue reading through the gospel of Mark as we take this big picture overview for these few weeks. Pay attention to the details as you read, for they will further explain the big themes that will come out on Sunday mornings. Beyond that, make every effort to join us on these Sundays, either in person or by livestream.

Again, this week we will be in Mark 7-10. I hope that you will join us in person or via livestream.

Fighter Verse for the Week:

"And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name" - Philippians 2:8-9
