Weekly Update – September 29th, 2022
This week I want to highlight a couple of points from our members’ meeting last Sunday night. This is the first time we have held our members’ meeting at this time and it seemed to be a great transition for us. We started with dinner at 5:30pm before we moved into our meeting that night. What resulted was one of the largest crowds we have had in years for a members’ meeting. Here are a few highlights:
First, the main topic of our members’ meeting was the rewrite of our constitution and by-laws. The main reason for the rewrite was to include clarity to the offices and functions of elders and deacons within our church. If you missed the meeting, you can find the proposed document HERE. Also written into this document was the proposal to adopt The Nashville Statement in terms of our stance on Biblical Sexuality. You and find that document HERE. There will be a town hall type of meeting on October 30th at 6:00pm to further discuss this proposal.
Second, we mentioned some upcoming ministries that will be starting for the fall, one of which was Awana on Wednesday nights. Last night was the first night of Awana and it began with much excitement. With dinner at 6:00pm followed by many new faces, there is a lot to look forward to for this year.
Third, after our members’ meeting, to all of our childcare volunteers, we introduced a new method of scheduling. Every week, in the weekly update email, there will an opportunity to sign up to help in the nursery during the worship hour. Currently we have a short rotation for this hour, but this form of volunteering will hopefully open the door up to those who aren’t regularly on the nursery rotation. Within this sign up, you will be able to see ahead for 4-6 weeks and determine if there is a week that you would be available to serve. We need 4 volunteers each week. Check out this volunteer sign up sheet HERE and see if there is a week that you can serve.
The Lord is doing some exciting things among us now. Not only do we continue to see a constant flow of visitors, but there is a growing desire to know the Lord and to serve Him among our body. I am truly thankful to be your pastor as we together seek to speak and live out the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Serving Him with You,
Pastor Michael Nelson
