Sustaining Grace

Sustaining Grace

Weekly Update – April 29th, 2021

Over the last few weeks, we have begun to see more and more people returning. This past Sunday almost felt like we were getting back to normal. Then with Mayor Lucas keeping the mask mandate, but getting rid of the social distancing and capacity limits for Kansas City, it seems as though we are on a good path. Hopefully Jackson County will follow his lead. Either way, we can be thankful for the Lord’s sustaining grace over the last year or more, and we can trust that He will continue to preserve us for His purposes in the years to come.

This Sunday we have two exciting events occurring during our service. First, we will receive three new people into the membership of our church: Connie Thomas, Gracie Blankenship and Nate Johnson. Second, we will present Daniel Good to you for ordination to pastoral ministry. I hope that you will be able to join us.

On an another note, this will be my last Sunday before my sabbatical starts. I am grateful to have this time away, but I already anticipate missing you all. Next week I will detail what it is you can expect over the course of these 9 weeks. I will see you all again on July 11th.

This week we will be in Matthew 6:16-18. I hope that you will join us in person or via livestream.

Serving Him with You,

Fighter Verse for the Week:

"He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers. The wicked are not so, but are like chaff that the wind drives away." - Psalm 1:3-4

Announcements:

Vacation Bible School: This year, Vacation Bible School will be held on July 12th-16th from 9:00am to Noon. Our plan is to have a fully functioning, normal as possible, type of week. The theme this year will be “Concretes and Cranes.” You can watch the promotional video for this theme HERE. Talk to Alaina Bonin about how you can be involved.

Health Guidelines: We have now entered Phase 3 here in Jackson County. This does not bring any change from 2.5 for us as masks and social distancing are still required. You can find the official guideline on mask wearing from the health department HERE. You can also find a video that outlines what Phase 3 looks like for our church HERE.

Bible Study:

We are currently in a study through the book of Joshua. We meet at 9:15am on Sunday mornings in the Fellowship Hall.
