Weekly Update – October 1st, 2026
It has been several months since I have given you an update on our building remodel, so I want to take this week to do so. As many of you know, over the summer we had a new HVAC system put into the Faith Center Gym. What was initially projected to take a week in June, was fully and finally completed last week. Much of the delay came from unexpected ventilation issues and the backorder of an additional part. Nonetheless, it is complete! Praise the Lord!
What this means is that we are now moving onto phase 2.5. Phase 1 was the outside, dealing with the front columns, all the windows, the roof and steeple. Phase 2 is the interior, mainly comprising the gym, sanctuary and welcome center. Phase 3 deals with a new entrance and updates to our educational wing. Now before we talk about the next steps, I want to also give you a financial update. Phase 1 cost around $225,000. This was repairing everything on the exterior of the building. All of the windows, the roof, front columns and painting. The beginning of phase 2, that being the HVAC system cost around $180,000. That brings us to a total of $405,000. To help with this cost, we sold the land to the north side of our property, but a lot of the most recent expenditures have come from your giving. Back in September 2025, we officially kicked off our fundraiser and with the money you have given to date, we have done all of our building remodel debt free!
The next part of phase 2 will be a little bit more complicated. This involves the interior of the sanctuary and a welcome center that leads into it. We are in the process of getting plans drawn up from our architect to get a better picture of what this project will entail, as well as to provide you with solid numbers financially. Yet, despite the challenge ahead of us, I hope you will continue to give as we remain optimistic over what the Lord will accomplish through us! Lord willing, we will have an update for you by our next members’ meeting in December.
Ultimately as we look ahead of us, we first do so with an effort to preserve the legacy that has gone before us and all of the sacrifices that were made so that we might have a gospel witness in Grandview. At the same time, we look ahead towards the future generations who will continue to make known the message of Jesus Christ that we pass down to them. That means that our building project and fundraiser are both spiritual matters aimed at fulfilling our vision to see our families, our community and our world transformed by the power of God. Our location here at 1416 Main Street is significant. We are in the heart of Grandview. Outreach flows out of this location to a community that has known us for over 175 years. Worship is lifted up to the Lord as his people gather in the name of Jesus Christ here. Families have raised their children here and more will do so, Lord willing, in the future. Let us who are here now, continue in faithfulness to preserve the gospel, but to also preserve the place in which the gospel is proclaimed.

Announcements:
Membership Matters Class: Beginning Sunday, September 20th, there will be a Membership Matters Class for those interested in joining FBC. This will be a 4-week class (9/20, 9/27, 10/4, 10/11), meeting at 9:15am during our Equipping/Sunday School hour. You can find out more about our membership process HERE.
Fall Festival: On Saturday, October 31st from 5:00-7:00pm, we will host a fall festival at the church. We will have trunk or treat, bounce house, chili, hot dogs, dessert, hot chocolate and a fire pit. Help us fill up our candy barrel before the event, and sign up in the hall to help on that night.
Men’s Retreat: On Friday, November 6th – Saturday, November 7th we will host our 3rd Men’s Retreat at God’s Mountain Camp. Dave Hintz from Flint Hills Bible Church will be our speaker this year. Missouri Missions Offering: Every year, along with nearly 1,800 other churches, our church partners to pray and give concerning the Lord’s work in our state. The statewide goal is $825,000 this year. Our church goal is $1500. I hope that you will consider praying and giving to this effort throughout this month. As with your normal offering, you can give in person, by mail or online. Family Discipleship Guides: These guides are designed to help equip parents further engage with what our children and youth are learning. You can find a guide for AWANA, HERE and for our Youth, HERE.
Discipleship Training: There is a new adult study on Wednesday nights. The study is over the topic of Christian Ethics. Join us from 6:45-8:00pm
Ladies’ Bible Study: There will be a 9-week study of Romans by Courtney Doctor starting on September 8th. Morning and evening sessions are each Tuesday for 9 weeks.
Men’s Study: Our Men’s study meets on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday nights at 8:00-9:15pm. The book for this study will be The Case for Christ. See Matthew Klika for more information.
Building Remodel: If you would like to give to our remodel fund, there are commitment cards available in the welcome center. Feel free to pick up one and return it to one an available basket. If you would like to give a one time or a reoccurring gift, you can do so HERE and select “building remodel.” You can also give through one of the offering boxes at church. Be sure to mark your envelop, “building remodel.” Check out a video highlighting the work done so far.
Food Pantry: The food pantry is currently in need of some food items. For a complete list of food pantry needs, click HERE.
Awana Bible Club
Awana Clubs are held on Wednesdays throughout the school year. Dinner is at 6:00pm with Awana Clubs starting at 6:30pm. Children can be registered HERE.
Equipping Hour
We have three classes held at 9:15am on Sunday mornings. “A Survey in Church History” meets in the Sanctuary, a study in Isaiah in the Fellowship Hall, and a Ladies’ class studying the Old Testament meets in the classroom next to the nursery. You can find more information HERE.

Wednesday Evening Activities
Awana, Youth Group, and Discipleship Training are on Wednesday evenings. We will share a meal in the Faith Center Gym at 6:00pm before heading to classes at 6:30pm.

Worship Service begins at 10:30am on Sunday mornings. Nursery care for children ages 0-4 years is available during the worship hour.
